Cecil Dalton Owens, son of Lindel McCoy and Nannie Mae (Taylor) Owens, was born January 29, 1926 in Virginia. He registered for the draft January 29, 1944 while living in Nealy Ridge, Virginia and was inducted into the Army May 6, 1944 at Fort Meade, Maryland. He joined Company B, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 48th Replacement Battalion on January 24, 1945 while the unit was in the vicinity of Guebling, France. He was promoted to Private First Class February 1, 1945. Pfc Cecil D Owens was originally reported missing and was later confirmed killed in action March 8, 1945 in the vicinity of Millingen/Huck, Germany northwest of Essen. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
