Walter Lloyd Palmatier, son of Frank Allen and Alice May (Boyce) Palmatier, was born January 17, 1908 in Reno County, Kansas. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army February 17, 1941. He was a Rifleman in Company B, 320th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach in Normandy July 6, 1944. Pfc Walter L Palmatier was killed in action July 17, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France. he is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
