Jewell Carter Peterson, son of James and Sarah Geneva (Carter) Peterson, was born May 17, 1913 in Joseph, Utah. His family moved to Idaho sometime during 1918 - 1919. He married Cleo Christensen August 10, 1935 and the couple had a daughter, Sherrill Ann. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Idaho Falls, Idaho and working at the Daniger Furniture Company. He was inducted into the Army March 22, 1944 at Fort Douglas, Utah. He joined Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 38th Replacement Battalion November 13, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. Pvt Jewell C Peterson was killed in action November 21, 1944 southwest of Sarreguemines, France. He is buried at Firth Cemetery, Firth, Idaho.
