Calvin David Preston, son of Vernon Evans and Emma (Hesche) Preston, was born December 5, 1925 in Newaygo County, Michigan. He registered for the draft December 6, 1943. At that time he was an 18 year old student, living in Lowell, Michigan. He was inducted into the Army sometime during 1944 and joined Company D, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 82nd Replacement Battalion on December 23, 1944. Pvt Calvin D Preston was initially reported missing in action January 15, 1945 in the vicinity of Bourcy, northeast of Bastogne, Belgium and was later confirm killed in action on that date. He is buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery, Hamn, Luxembourg.
