Russell Raymond Ribby, son of Alfred Daniel and Anna Laura (Purdy) Ribby, was born January 21, 1923 in Holt, Michigan. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942. At the time he was living in Dewitt, Michigan and working at Melling Drop Forge in Lansing. He was inducted into the Army January 19, 1943 at Kalamazoo, Michigan, joined Company G, 320th Infantry Regiment and served as an Automatic Rifleman. He was killed in action July 11, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo, France. Pfc Russell R Ribby is buried at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Holt, Michigan.
