Company L - 320th Infantry Regiment

George Herbert Richards, son of George Frederick and Helen Marie (Trimper) Richards, was born May 8, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He registered for the draft June 1, 1943, was inducted into the Army August 12 and entered active service in September 1943 at Fort Meade, Maryland. He joined Company L, 320th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman on July 30, 1944. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 20 and was promoted to Private First Class October 4, 1944. Pfc George H Richards was reported missing and was later confirmed killed in action November 8, 1944 in the vicinity of Fresnes-en-Saulnois, France, He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
