William Joseph Schwartz, son of Kasper and Teresa (Wachtler) Schwartz, was born in New Jersey on February 7, 1918. He was inducted into the Army June 8, 1939 and joined Company K, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 14th Replacement Battalion December 27, 1944. S/Sgt William J Schwartz was killed in action the following day, December 28, 1944, in the vicinity of Baschleiden, Luxembourg. He is buried at Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmgate, New York.
