Edwin Douglas Skaar, son of Lewis and Hattie Irene (Smart) Skaar, was born May 22, 1911 in Hixton, Wisconsin. He was inducted into the Army May 20, 1940 at Albion, Michigan and married Amy Tjerstad on October 24, 1943. He joined Company C, 320th Infantry Regiment from the 14th Replacement Battalion December 23, 1944. T/5 Edwin D Skaar was killed in action January 7, 1945 in the vicinity of Remoifosse, Belgium, south of Bastogne. He is buried at Trinity Rest Cemetery, Hixton, Wisconsin.
