Pfc. Alfred Calamo served with Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in France in 1944. He did not often speak of his service. He was a barber in civilian life and also served as the head barber for the Marine Corps in Garden City, NY for over 50 years. He was an active member of the Plainview, NY volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, serving as Chief in 1964 and Commissioner for 20 years. Pfc. Calamo passed away on January 17, 2011 at age 90.
The pictures below were taken at Camp Wolters, Texas in 1944 and at Camp Upton, Long Island NY in 1945.
