Company L - 134th Infantry Regiment

Johnnie Clarence Certain, son of Ules Edgar and Sarah Matilda Certain, was born July 1, 1924 in McMinnville, Tennessee. He registered for the draft in Franklin County Tennessee on December 14, 1942. His draft record lists him as 5' 11" tall, weighing 140 pounds, with blue eyes, red hair, and a ruddy complexion. He was inducted into the Army on August 5, 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. 

Pfc Johnnie C Certain landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on July 6, 1944. He served as an Ammunition Handler in the Weapons Platoon of Company L. He was seriously wounded in action on August 12, 1944 during the battle for Mortain, France and died of his wounds 2 days later on August 14, 1944. He is buried at the Brittany American Cemetery in St. James (Manache), France.
