Unconditional German Surrender

Teletype message from General Butler B. Miltonberger to the 134th Infantry Regiment announcing the unconditional surrender of Germany - 7 May 1945.

General Miltonberger called following message to CO 134th Inf. 0800 7, May 45

A representative of the German High Command signed the unconditional surrender of all German land, sea and air forces in Europe to the AEF and simultaneously to the USSR at 0141 B. C. E. time, 7 May 45, under which all forces under the German Command cease operations at 0001, 9 May 45. Effective immediately, all offensive operations by AEF cease and all troops will remain in present locations. Troops in occupation continue mission. Due to communication difficulties there may be some delay is similar announcements reaching enemy troops so full offensive resources will be taken. No release will be made to press, pending an announcement by England, United States and USSR.
