S/Sgt. Edmund John Sedlak was born on March 24, 1920 in Bee Nebraska. Son of Mary and Simon Sedlak.  He graduated high school in Seward Nebraska in 1938. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard out of Seward Nebraska at the age of 18. The National Guard was called into active duty. The 134 Regiment, Company M. They then were sent to Arkansas and California for training. While in high school, he met Dorothea Louise Calundan. Born on January 17,1920. Daughter of Jesse and Alfred Calundan. She went to California while he was stationed there to visit him. While she was there, they got married on May 10,1942. He was then sent to France with the 134 Regiment, Company M, 35th Division. He fought in WW2, along side his company freeing the cities and towns of France. He lost a special soldier buddy, Robert J. Field, who was KIA on November 13,1944. After the end of WW2 he also went on to fight in the Korean War. He also received a Bronze Star for exemplary infantry action against the enemy. He received many accommodations and medals for his service.

He and Dorothea had 3 children. Daughter, Judith Louise Sedlak-Craig, born November 15,1943. Son,Robert John Sedlak, born June 1,1947 and daughter, Carol Lynn Sedlak-Reinhardt born, November 5,1956. He remained in the Army until his retirement in 1966. He then worked Civil Service for almost 20yrs. He was working at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas at the time of his death  March 15, 1985, at the age of 64 from cancer. He attended a Company M reunion in 1974 where he is pictured with many fellow members. He is survived by his wife Dorothea, whom as of January 17,2017 is 97yrs. old. Son, Robert and daughter Carol. As well as many grand and great grandchildren. He may be gone but he's not forgotten. He was our hero! "ALL HELL CAN'T STOP US!"
