James Coulthart (1845-1890) of Cummertrees, Scotland and Victoria, Australia Play the music for this webpage! James Coulthart was born near Cummertrees in Dumfries County Scotland in 1845. He was the son of Christopher Coulthart (1819-1900), a forester at Kinmount, an estate about one mile north of Cummertrees, and Margaret Graham (1816-1869). James had five brothers and sisters: Nancy, Thomas, Margaret, Christopher (1848-1918) and George (1858-1944). He moved to Liverpool, England where he married Margaret Rome Hill in 1867. The family lived in Toxteth Park Liverpool where James worked as a builder. James and Margaret had six children: James (1872), Robert (1881), Jack, Christopher, Thomas and Anne. In 1888 the family immigrated to Victoria, Australia. His brother George had immigrated to New South Wales, Australia in 1881. James died there on April 30, 1890. The Children of James Coulthart
